finding god in the stillness of my sorrow is a collection of poems written on my personal journey of understanding and healing religious trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, and my own femininity. It’s reminiscent of embarking on a quest through the inner workings of my mind and taking a look at the things I can only express with a pen. My hope is that through shedding light on my own experiences, others can also see themselves. A major theme that resonates throughout most of my pieces is the desire to return to love in all things. To be willing to understand that anything felt or experienced will always pass, no matter how consuming or painful. Every piece is an attempt to create a tangible understanding of feelings, emotions, fears, and spiritual concepts that have been a part of my life since childhood. Some of the pieces marvel at the beauty and sanctity of life. Some of them express the raw nature of feminine rage. Others touch on the desire to be known, understood, and loved. A few more depict the discovery of self-love, and more importantly, self-acceptance and forgiveness. I hope whoever reads my poems can feel seen and find comfort in the camaraderie through my expression of experiencing life. Read more
